Hitman Anders and the Meaning of It All, by Jonas Jonasson
Why this book?
Have you read Jonas Jonasson’s first novel ’The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared? You may have noticed I tend to find authors and enjoy their book and will try another. Most times that works for me and rarely am I disappointed. Even when an author tries something left of what their style has previously been, I tend to enjoy the change rather than resist it.
Given I enjoyed the first book. It was full of humour and the story flowed as it zipped from here to there. The characters were delightfully endearing and unexpected.

A quote form his website ‘Let’s all be kind and have fun as we watch it all sparkle away. Oh, and do tell some harmless lies to spice things up. In the words of my grandfather:
“If you always stick to the truth, nobody will bother to listen.” I say the same thing but worded differently ‘Don’t let reality get in the way of a good story’ so I like this guy.
Having worked as a journalist and started his own production company. Jonas felt the need to try something else. He started to write his first novel ’The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared’ For a debut novel, it became an international success and published all over the world.

Why should you read it?
I found this book a little tedious. The 100 year old man who climbed out the window and dissapeared was a delightfully funny book and a story with a great twist. I felt this book was a carbon copy. Yes, it is a different story with twists of its own. I just felt both the humour and the story-line was a little copy cat to the earlier book. Having said that it may simply be because I read them too close together. Sometimes you need to allow some time between books from the same author.
This is a great story with twists you are not able to guess. It is a funny story and it is easy to read. There are loads of characters that are well developed and you feel as though you really know who they are. Each is endearing in their own way. This is great book to pack for the beach. Whilst my opinion about the author being copy cat of his own book, the stories are unlike any other book you have previously read.
